Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas:

  • Install and maintain computer systems and networks to ensure top functionality
  • Set up and configure workstations with computers and necessary peripherals (routers, printers, etc.)
  • Check computer hardware (drives, keyboards, mice) for optimal operation
  • Install and configure software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local area networks, optimising for speed and reliability
  • Ensure the security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Organise and schedule upgrades and regular maintenance with minimal disruption
  • Provide guidance and training to users on software and hardware usage
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues (hardware and software repairs, debugging, etc.)
  • Maintain detailed records/logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance
  • Identify shortages of IT/computer equipment and place necessary orders
  • Support the design and implementation of workstation services and IT systems as needed
  • Understand key IT concepts—reliability, availability, scalability, storage, security, and systems management
  • Communicate effectively with staff and users, providing excellent support and guidance
  • Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the Head of IT/Management

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • A+ or equivalent
  • N+ or equivalent
  • ITIL Foundation is advantageous
  • Further qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, or similar industry certifications
  • Proven experience in an IT Technician or relevant position
  • Experience working in complex IT infrastructure environments is advantageous
  • Clear criminal record
