Frontend Developer

We are seeking an
Intermediate Front-End Developer
for a Cape Town based software development consultancy (
*please note that this is a hybrid-role requiring at least two days in the office per week in Claremont, Cape Town
).

Our client delivers cutting-edge platforms tailored to their clients' unique requirements, servicing a wide range of clients in various industries but mainly within the financial services sector.

The position of Intermediate Front-End Developer will build and improve applications (and websites) by making them more user-friendly. Optimise applications for enhanced performance.

Qualifications:

• IT Diploma/Certification/Degree
• Advantageous: BSci Computer Science/BEng, Science/BA Information Systems or higher
• Minimum 4
• years experience in contemporary FE frameworks, financial services experience (transactional platforms, onboarding systems) would be ideal.

Must-have Proficiencies:

• Expert - HTML, CSS (Tailwind, CSS in JS)
• Expert - JJavaScript (ES6) and JavaScript framework (React, Angular) Typescript
• Highly experienced in JAMStack, CLI, DevOps Pipelines and build tools
• SCSS
• Ability to architect front-end
• Proficient in CLI and build tools
• Debug front-end issues using dev tools
• Translate designs (Sketch, Figma, XD) to performant and responsive front-end code
• Use version control (git)
• Assist team on technical implementation issues
• Transfer technical and agile process knowledge to team members
• Adhere to good technical practices, standards and compliance

Responsibilities:

Technical:

• Display adequate proficiency in required technology stack.
• Ensure identified gaps are added to your personal development plan.
• Assist team members on technical implementation issues.
• Ensure familiarity with project reference architecture.
• Transfer technical and agile process knowledge to team members

Day-to-day
:

• Ensure tickets are up to date and you move your tickets in terms of status and comment on the ticket where relevant.
• Take ownership of and accountability for stories, tasks and all related development activities to complete the assigned work.
• Ensure pull requests are reviewed and that the changes are applied to the test environment as expected.
• Proactively follow up QA to ensure your work is complete and all bugs are fixed.

Code Quality:

• Adhere to good technical practices which include: unit testing, integration testing, dependency injection, monitoring and logging.
• Identify practices that aren't effective and suggest changes.
• Review pull requests as highest priority and participate by commenting and asking for clarifications

Build and Release:

• Deploy approved changes to target environments.
• Configure and manage builds and releases in the appropriate dev-ops platform, or document the build and release process.
• Fix builds broken as a result of your pull requests.

Project Solutions:

• Execute on development tasks in line with the Tech Lead/Architect's solution and the team's project planning activities.
• Where required take responsibility for defining the solution for a specific feature.
• Demo work to team and internally.

Teamwork:

• Contribute during sprint planning and backlog grooming meetings to define stories with acceptance criteria and the necessary tasks to address requirements.
• Attend and prepare for daily stand-up meetings.
• When needed, request or accept, and prepare for check-ins with the Technical Team Lead, PM and/or Senior Developer.

Communication:

• Communicating progress and issues on development commitments to team and Project Manager.
• Professional communication with the client. PM and Tech Lead to be included in communications.
