The Plant Quality Engineer / Metrologist is responsible for implementing process control programs that will assure production of finished goods that meet or exceed customer-specified requirements. He/ she leads continuous improvements by utilizing the appropriate quality tools and provides data analysis. Analyse products to ensure their conformity and participate in problem solving. Develop the metrology laboratory into a superior measuring facility and gauge control facility with related filing systems, instructions, visual aids, etc.
Your mission, roles and responsibilitiesThe main responsibilities are as follow :
- Conduct multiple projects simultaneously ranging from feasibility phase to post launch quality assessment and throughout production life
- Facilitate Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)with engineering in conjunction with advanced quality-planning activities and monitor the status throughout production life
- Review the Control Plan with Engineering and Production and monitor the status throughout production life
- Develop, implement, and maintain Statistical Process Control techniques
- Assure compliance of the documented quality systems (IATF16949/ VDA6.3) and promote consistency throughout the organization
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of defects, make recommendations for corrective action
- Maintain internal customer complaint log and facilitate and participate in the QRCI process
- Instruct and train personnel in techniques and use of audit and testing devices
- Monitor and revise quality documentations as required
- Visit customers and suppliers when necessary. Acts as a liaison to internal customers
- Review all production methods for compliance to quality standards and for improvement of product and quality standards
- Perform 8QB and CIO audits and monitor corrective action implementation
- Contain parts within the plant in the event of customer rejection and dock audit rejections
- Manage the Gauge R&R schedule and perform the studies as per schedule
- Perform final inspection validation as per schedule
- Draw up the inspection instructions for the TQW and Final Inspection, and revise when applicable
- Maintain FES principles
- Perform all responsibilities with (IATF16949/ VDA 6.3) system requirements
- Perform the measurements for:
- Purchase parts for incoming inspection according to control plan (including conformity checks of material certificates)
- PPAP parts (incl. purchase parts)
- 1st piece ok when applicable
- Perform Process Stability measurements and summary analysis
- Sampling inspections
- Product audits
- Problem solving (QRCI)
- Review gauge requirements in plants and advise/ co- ordinate changes.
- For 3D measurements respect the relevant national & international standards
- Manage calibration and R&R (Repeatability and Responsibility) for all measuring equipment (planning, execution, documentation). This includes proper identification of equipment by tagging with FORVIA? Faurecia tag (customer tag if customer owned)
- Ensure the proper use of SPC in production according to the control plan
- In case of non- conforming product, escalate to the Senior Metrologist for further decision
- Review all production methods for compliance to quality standards and for improvement of product and quality standards
- Perform all responsibilities with ISO/TS 16949 system requirements
- Maintain customer specific requirements and audits
- Develop the metrology laboratory into a superior measuring facility and gauge control facility with related filling systems, instructions, visual aids, etc.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial engineering
- Strong analytical and proven team oriented problem solving-skills required
- 3 or more years relevant experience in manufacturing
- Strong customer satisfaction orientation.
- In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of customer specific requirements
- Knowledge of Metrology Processes with min of 2 years experience in metrology
- Above average communication skills and interpersonal skills
