Man On Site Technician

Rolls-Royce Solutions South Africa (Pty) Ltd has vacant positions for 2x Man On Site Technicians at the Sishen Iron Ore Mine sites.

Job Objective

The Man On Site (MOS) will be expected to maintain the fleet of
mtu
engines and Rolls-Royce Solutions product located at the Sishen Iron Ore and Kolomela Mine sites based on the Value Care Agreement (VCA) with Kumba Resources.

Key Performance Areas & Duties

The MOS responsibilities shall inter alia include the following:

• Maintenance service of all
  mtu
  engines and Rolls-Royce Solutions product following a shift/time roster as required by the customer.
• 24 (twenty-four) hour standby and call out service on
  mtu
  engines and Rolls-Royce Solutions product where needed or shift work as contractual agreed with the customer.
• Represent Rolls-Royce Solutions SA in a professional manner on site as well as after hours.

SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality)

• The MOS shall use all necessary safety equipment as required in the work environment.
• The MOS will maintain his office, furniture, vehicle, computer, lap-top, tools, cellular phone, etc. and keep it clean, tidy and in a good working order always.
• The MOS shall be well presented as a proud member of Rolls-Royce group.
• The MOS shall carry out all his duties in strict accordance with the MHSA (Mine Health and Safety ACT) and the Rolls-Royce Solutions SA quality standards, ISO 9001 standards and follow the procedural instructions drawn up by the company and Rolls-Royce Solutions SA.
• The MOS has the right to carry out section 22 and 23 of the MHSA (Mine Health and Safety ACT) and Regulations 29 of 1996.

Rolls-Royce Solutions SA is responsible for all maintenance in a VCA contract, the following tasks shall be carried out:

• Do all maintenance of the Equipment to OEM Standards and Guidelines.
• Preservice inspections of all the Equipment.
• Do fault finding on the Equipment to keep it available for production.
• Analyse and audit reports relating to the engines (oil analyses, shift reports, ECM data, Field Service Reports, Maintenance schedules) and take corrective action or report any findings outside Rolls-Royce Solutions scope of responsibility and suggest corrective actions to the Site Supervisor/Senior MOS in writing.
• Participate in all planning procedures related to engine maintenance.
• Attend all relevant meetings and training.
• Adhering to the procedure related to the Rolls-Royce Solutions SA sub store; en- sure that all parts & stock removed are recorded and signed for.
• Maintain accurate records on time worked and submit all timesheets timely.
• Perform any duties and assume any responsibilities as may be agreed between the parties from time to time.

In case where engines belonging to customers without contracts with Rolls-Royce Solutions SA Product must be serviced, the work shall be done strictly in accordance with the business rules and procedures of Rolls-Royce Solutions SA.

• The customer must have an account with Rolls-Royce Solutions SA.
• Work shall only be done if an order has been received.
• Proper field service report shall be done and completed in full.
• All parts consumed shall be recorded.
• All hours worked shall be recorded.
• Distance travelled shall be recorded.
• All the above shall be signed off by the customer.
• All maintenance of equipment shall be done to OEM Standards and Guidelines.
• Response times to service the customer shall be quick and efficient.

Document engine related data

• Document all failures and movement of
  mtu
  engines and Rolls-Royce Solutions product.
• Document all engine service maintenance history.
• Documenting all parts consumed by MOS/Mine/Customer for engine fleet.

Maintenance of information for VCA

The MOS shall maintain accurate records of the history of each item/activity/oil analyses of each engine or any other relevant data for future reference of the
mtu
engine fleet as prescribed by the factory, Rolls-Royce Solutions SA or customer.

• The reports shall include and not limited to the following:

o  
mtu
engine operating hours per month

o  
mtu
engines availability

o  
mtu
engine reliability or mean time between failures (MTBF)

o  
mtu
engines fuel consumption figures

o  Service information including schedule maintenance and corrective maintenance required to ensure availability and reliability of
mtu
engines and Rolls-Royce Solutions product.

Communications Protocol

The MOS shall communicate directly with his Site Supervisor/Senior MOS about service schedules and to ensure that no service shall be extended beyond the agreed period.

On Site Relations

The MOS in general shall undertake to do all maintenance related tasks and to take all steps to enhance the relationship between team members and the customer. In the event of any disagreement between the Parties, the matter shall be dealt with in a higher level meeting, arranged by the Site Supervisor, Account Manager or the Head of Industrial Business. The MOS must adhere to all the legal and OHS rules and regulations stipulated by the mine site. The MOS will comply with the mine's security rules and regulations as imposed from time to time.

Note: The customer has the right to ensure that Rolls-Royce Solutions SA personnel shall punctually observe and comply with these directions, instructions, prescriptions and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic/Millwright
• At least 5 years' post qualification experience in Field Service or MOS
• Proven track record as Field Service Mechanic or MOS
• Qualified Fitter will be considered with 5 years MOS experience
• Valid Site medical certificate of fitness
