One of our clients, providing electrical instrumentation and automation engineering and design for the mining and manufacturing industry, has an opening for an
E and I Clerk of Works
.

To assist the Project Manager in the delivery of projects by supervising and coordinating the onsite activities.

JOB OBJECTIVES:

  • Full-time On-site Electrical & Instrumentation EPCM project services to the Khumani Mine Projects Office in capacity of Package Engineer.
  • Package Engineers manage all Electrical & Instrumentation aspects of projects executed by the Projects Department:
  • Generate Scope of Work (SOW) and Bill-of-Material (BOM) for RFQ and/or Enquiry for project E&I design, implementation & commissioning.
  • Evaluate/adjudicate tenders and recommend successful contractors.
  • Facilitate the E&I designs — verify that the E&I designs are done in accordance with SANS standards, ARM/Khumani standards, specifications and design criteria.
  • Facilitate the process of design reviews by Khumani Engineers.
  • During project implementations the Clerk of Works must manage scope, schedule, cost, quality control and quality assurance through the complete project life cycle.
  • Member of multi-disciplinary Projects Department project teams: Clerk of Works must manage/ensure tight integration of E&I detail designs with the other disciplines' civil, process and mechanical detail designs.
  • Clerk of Works must have a good command of ARM/Khumani standards, specifications and design criteria.
  • Clerk of Works must have a good command of the Khumani's Testing and Commissioning procedure.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma NQF Level 6 (Electrical/Electronic Engineering), recommended BTech/BEng NQF Level 7 (Electrical/Electronic Engineering), formal Project Management Qualification
  • Minimum of 8 years of industrial (operational) experience in a mining or plant environment, of which 4 years in an Electrical Engineer, Instrumentation Technician/Engineer or E&I Clerk capacity.
  • Valid code EC1 driver's licence (Code 10).
  • Note: E&I Clerk of Works will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit for duty, as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
