Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the Graduate Entry Medical Program (GEMP 1–4), with a focus on maintaining and enhancing teaching quality on the Internal Medicine Clinical Training Platform.
  • Coordinate teaching activities across three central academic hospitals:
    • Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH)
  • Helen Joseph Hospital (HJH)
  • Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH)

    well as at various affiliated and future teaching sites within the extended academic platform.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and ensure consistency in clinical teaching standards across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to support the effective delivery of undergraduate medical education.
  • Conduct and publish qualitative research related to clinical education and teaching initiatives within Internal Medicine and the Unit for Undergraduate Medical Education (UUME).
  • Assist in capturing and analysing data from the GEMP teaching programmes to inform best practices and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of post-medical registrar clinical experience.
  • Full, independent registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • Experience in medical education and/or clinical teaching will be advantageous.
