We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, solution-driven Workshop Manager with strong technical expertise to play a key role in transforming a workshop into a world-class Aftermarket Service & Repair Centre based in the Midrand area.

Requirements:
  • Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Millwright, or equivalent) – essential.
  • Proven experience in gearbox and transmission overhauls –
  • Strong background in vacuum pumps, pumps, blowers, motors, and rotating equipment – advantageous.
  • Basic electrical and PLC/HMI troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with ERP/job tracking and reporting.
  • Supervisory/leadership experience in a workshop environment.
  • Bonus:Mechanical Engineering diploma/degree.
  • Bonus:Project management experience.
  • A natural problem-solver with strong technical know-how.
  • A leader who can manage people and projects, while rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. Hands-on is a must.
  • Customer-focused, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Process-driven, with an eye for efficiency and system improvements.
  • Balances excellence with a sense of urgency to ensure fast turnaround times
Responsibilities:
  • Overhaul transmissions and gearboxes (critical), including blowers and larger turbo blowers—hands-on involvement required.
  • Supervise technicians during repairs and maintenance of pumps, vacuum pumps, blowers, and other rotating equipment.
  • Ensure efficient workflows, accurate job card reporting, and ERP system usage.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS and BCEA regulations in the workshop.
  • Support customers and sales teams with technical problem-solving, building lasting relationships.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor workshop staff, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
