POSITION OVERVIEW:

SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR

Location: Nelspruit, South Africa

Duration: 6 Months

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Internal Auditor to join our team on a six-month contract basis in Nelspruit. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the internal audit process, mentoring junior auditors, and ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulations.

Employee will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Plan and oversee the auditing process.

  • Determine internal audit scope.

  • Perform internal audit cycle planning, execution and reporting as per the internal audit plan.

  • Allocate responsibilities to junior staff auditors.

  • Monitor and mentor junior staff members.

  • Review team members' work for accuracy and compliance.

  • Perform effective risk and control assessments.

  • Monitor timeline of the project and submit reports to internal auditing manager.

  • Document findings for IA manager to review.

  • Present audit findings to management.

  • Develop and maintain sound client relationships.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.

  • Keep up to date with developments to ensure continuous knowledge development regarding sector's rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

  • Prepare, set up meetings and draft minutes.

  • Adherence to the code of conduct of IIA.

  • Ensure that audit file is in good condition when file report is issued (quality assurance).

  • Ensure collaboration between assurance providers (combined assurance).

-Communicate any delays to Internal Audit Managers.

  • Sound knowledge of PFMA and MFMA.

  • Conduct reviews in line with Global Internal Audit Standards.

Qualifications:

  • BCom or Diploma in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Professional certification (CIA, or equivalent) would be an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in internal auditing, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of auditing practices, risk management, and internal controls.

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor junior auditors.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards.
