Job Summary Define & drive the architectural vision and technical strategy of the company by defining the Product Development Methodology (lean/agile) & ensuring its adoption across the entire Engineering Team.

Lead the planning, execution & success of Engineering Projects while recommending best practices and assessing the feasibility of new business requirements.

Duties Functions/Responsibilities


• Responsible for the day to day running of the Engineering (Drawing/Design) Department & managing the processes relating to developing of new products and the upliftment of the current product offering.

• Responsible for managing project deadlines while maximizing the department's productivity, by implementing processes that can measure outputs.


• Dealing with endemic issues and for handling customer concerns.


• Ensure the development of designs that promote labour productivity in both the production departments through utilizing "Design for Excellence


• Develop and improve design and drawing procedures, tools and systems to support the design process


• Ensure work in own discipline is done in accordance with internal quality systems


• Ensure the efficient execution of design and drawing work on Proposals and Contracts


• Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers and Drawing Office Section Leaders on different projects to balance the drawing office priorities between various projects


• Approve or prepare realistic estimates of Drawing Office man-hours for Tenders (Proposals


• Compile initial drawing registers in conjunction with Drawing Office Section Leaders, and ensuring that these are updated by Section Leaders as Projects / Contracts progress


• Coordinate and oversee the execution of drawing work received from Project Office department


• Ensure availability of suitable personnel and effective utilization of personnel: Manpower planning for Detail Design staff


• Ensure drawings comply with engineering requirements by ensuring that suitable review and checking procedures are applied to drawing / design deliverables


• Review drawings for good draughting practice, sensibility of concepts, constructability and maintainability


• Ensure that all drawings and design deliverables are revision controlled from initial work through to final deliverables, by making use of the relevant PLM, DMS and filing systems

Required Skills Set

Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

Excellent organizational and leadership skills


• Familiarity with office management procedures and basic accounting principles

Excellent knowledge of MS Office and office management relevant software

Education and Formal Training:


• Secondary Qualification or Tertiary Qualification would be advantageous

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years work experience in a Drawing Office, with thorough knowledge of Drawing Office standards and procedures, preferably in the projects and some experience in Change Management.


• Good Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD), and strong knowledge of 3D Modelling Software
