An established listed financial service group is seeking a highly assertive and results-orientated individual who works with a strong sense of delivering quality work and thrives in a fast-paced setting. This group seeks a Group Statutory Reporting Accountant who always undertakes complex assignments, meets tight deadlines, and delivers excellent performance.

Job description:

The Group Statutory Reporting Accountant will assist with various statutory reporting requirements, including annual audit and interim reporting processes, preparation of the QRT returns for the PSG Financial Services insurance group, and assistance with stress testing scenarios for the group ORSA process. The Group Statutory Reporting Accountant will also assist various finance teams across the Group with internal and special ad-hoc reporting requirements and requests.

Responsibilities:

Annual & interim group financial statements

• Preparation of annual financial statements in terms of IFRS
• Assist group finance with the preparation of the consolidated interim and final audit pack
• Assist with various audit deliverables

Regulatory reporting

• Assist with the preparation of the bi-annual insurance group QRT
• Preparation of the monthly group solvency reporting information, including liaising with the various finance teams across the group
• Assistance with producing stress tests on the consolidated results of the group to assess the impact of potential risk scenarios (ORSA)

Management information

• Preparation of IFRS 16 information for corporate office leases as well as providing technical assistance to the various finance teams across the Group
• Monthly accounting processes for certain group support companies
• Identify and investigate unusual financial trends and anomalies, including liaising with the various finance teams across the Group to obtain reasons for variances

Taxation

• Assist with the preparation and submission of various tax returns for group support companies.

Special projects

• Finding ways to improve the efficiency of the reporting function
• Assisting various finance teams across the group with special ad-hoc reporting requirements and requests

Minimum Requirements:

• Newly qualified CA(SA) with 1 to 2 years' experience in the Financial Services Sector within a group environment recommended
• Good knowledge of complex accounting standards recommended
• Computer literacy; Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of AccPac, IDU, and Qlikview recommended
• Advanced Excel skills
