OVERVIEW
Suiderland Plase is a leading grower, packer and exporter of fresh fruit in South Africa. Our head office is based in Bellville, Cape Town, while our production units are situated across the Western Cape.
We require the services of an assistant accountant at head office. The position will report to the accountant and is available immediately.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fixed assets: Maintain and update fixed asset register ; Maintain and update capex schedule
- Inventory control: Support in stock management in packaging runs; Support in chemical stock management ; Physical stock take
- Statutory returns: VAT 201 and diesel rebate submissions ; VAT recons and following up on claims ; New VAT registrations ; Obtain tax clearance certificates
- Bookkeeping up to trial balance
- Ad hoc duties based on operational requirements

JOB REQUIREMENT
- Relevant tertiary education (suitable degree/diploma with 3 - 5 years working experience)
- Experience in VAT, fixed assets & inventory control
- General accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) & accounting package
- Valid driver’s license
- Be willing to travel to Suiderland Plase units as and when needed

**The following will be beneficial**:

- Knowledge of VAT - handling of SARS queries and VAT audits
- Knowledge of Inventory Systems
- Knowledge of BC or any other financial system
