**_ Position Purpose:_**

The incumbent will provide Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) support to the Operating Division through

the implementation of the SHE Management Programme based on the Integrated Management System aligned with ISO

45001 and ISO 14001 standards. The system to ensure legislative compliance, the safety of employees and our stakeholders

as well as promotion of sustainability principles. The incumbent with be the appointed Safety Agent for the Operating Division

as per the requirements of the Construction Regulations

**_ Position outputs:_**

Provide Risk Advisory support and inputs on Strategic & Corporate Initiatives

Setting the strategy for the Transnet Property’s SHE management function, in line with Board approved and Transnet’s
relevant Policies, Strategic Framework & Standards

Provide SHE management inputs into the Transnet Property strategic and corporate planning processes to ensure that all

key risks and exposures are identified, effectively mitigated, opportunities are identified and pursued

Create an understanding, amongst the Executives and Senior leadership, of the various SHE risk factors driving Transnet

Property and their impact on Transnet Property risk profile

Participate in relevant TP and Group governance Committees and Forums to provide SHE compliance inputs and support to

the business

Leading the overall implementation of the SHE Management Strategy and Plans

Development and review of a SHE Management Strategy and plans in conjunction with the Transnet Property leadership,

within the context of the overall business and strategic objectives of the business.

Lead and facilitate the overall implementation of the SHE management strategic plan, aligned with Transnet Policies by

ensuring continuous identification of risk, mitigation and controls for significant risks throughout Transnet Property

Establish effective statutory SHE Committee/s and Forums for TP to ensure compliance and improved safety culture

Be the first point of contact for authorities for SHE matters, internal and external auditors, relating to SHE management

Develop a close working relationship with the Executive Leadership, Senior and Line Management, Corporate Functions,

Other Operating Divisions and the Regions to ensure clear ownership, accountability, responsibility and support for SHE

management and compliance

Prepare and submit all strategic and tactical reports for all stakeholders as per the reporting requirements of the organisation

Lead the Implementation and maintenance of the SHE requirements of the Integrated Management System (based on the

ISO 451001 and ISO 4001 standards)

Lead and facilitate the establishment of robust occupational health, safety, security and environmental risk assessments

based on Transnet Policies, Procedures & Standards

Facilitate the develop comprehensive SHE Baseline Risk Assessments, mitigation and control measures to address

significant SHE risks and pursue opportunities for improvement

Establish TP processes and procedures to ensure improvements in terms of the implementation of ISO 45001 & of the ISO

14001 Management System

Conduct internal audits and inspections of the operations to ensure compliance and implementation of SHE Management

programme system

Conduct Assurance activities and Control Self-Assessments of the SHE Management System to make recommendations for

improvement

Collaborate with Transnet Group, other Operating Divisions and TP Leadership and Management on the implementation of

TIMS to ensure alignment, support and improvement

Lead as the Safety Agent, Client and/or Employer Representative in all matters related to Construction Regulations

As the appointed Safety Agent for the Operating Division, take overall responsibility to ensure that project complies with

Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations and all other relevant pieces of legislation

Proactively analyse projects and advise Executive Leadership, Senior Managers and Proj
