**Introduction**:
The Fibre Optic Supervisor will assume responsibility of managing, planning, staff, materials, installations, witness testing compiling of test results, hand over documents to client for approval, organizing the equipment, The functions include equipment procurement, staff management site establishment, equipment maintenance, transport management and following all required safety protocols to protect employees, plant and equipment.

- Ensure health and safety files on site are in order and necessary appointments done
- Certificates and checklists for tools on site in place
- Comply with Eskom’s Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS)
- Conduct toolbox talks
- Ensure that authorizations and compulsory training are kept up to date
- Do on-site risk assessments and assist the Health and Safety Manager to develop site specific Health and Safety Plan safe work procedures
- Ensure that all Inspections and Test Plans are signed off
- Ensure correct quality procedures are followed as per client’s requirements
- Ensure enforcement of Life-Saving Rules
Managing and Supervision on Site

- Adhere to policies and procedures
- Conduct regular inspections
- Obtain site instructions from client
- Confers with owners, contractors and client to sort out complaints and construction problems
- Inspect and review project to monitor compliance with standards and procedures
- Explain plans and contract terms to workers
- Ensure that supervisors have the necessary resources on site to carry out their work
- Ensure that workers receive the correct training to carry out their work
- Mentor workers to ensure capability at all times to carry out specific tasks
- Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Manage employees and subcontractors by monitoring and controlling performance versus program
- Ensure quality checklists and handover documentation is completed
- Submit monthly quantities to Project Manager for invoicing
- Keep all records for as-built purposes as per client’s requirement
- Conduct meeting with supervisors on a weekly basis to discuss the progress and any other site related issues that needs attention
- Attend progress meetings with the client
- Submit records & registers to the Project Manager as per requirements
- Ensure all supervisors on site are familiar with the SOW, program and the site organogram
- Manage and control on site day to day expenditure
- Manage and control fuel usage on site
- Ensure proper implementation of security on site to guard materials, plant and equipment
- Ensure all incidents, accidents or abnormalities are reported to the Project Manager
- Ensure that site personal records are kept, updated and implement proper timekeeping on site
- Identify short comings regarding resources and initiate up sourcing where and when needed
- Meets construction budget by monitoring project program and expenditure
- Identify variances in quantities and report to Project Manager

- Project planning, equipment, plant/equipment, fibre optic installations, materials, testing fibre links, spreadsheets of testing info and handover documentation to clients for approval.

- Overseeing of employees, ensure sites are adequately staff and the staff members have the required training.
