Senior Technician OSP Planner (Civils and Fibre) - Telecommunications

Brief overview of job functions
- Liaising with clients to establish their operational requirements and Fibre, to ensure requirements and objectives are met
- Drafts technical system designs and specifications for approval by line management for the Telecoms section
- Procures quotes from service providers and scrutinizes them
- Provides budgetary quotations
- Planning and designing the City's optic Fibre network (routes and cabling) based on specified requirements
- Assist in the maintenance of records on the City's Optic Fibre Broadband Infrastructure Management System, BIIMS
- Assists with budgetary requirements by providing cost estimates for a proposed solution
- Scrutinizes quotes before submitting them for approval
- Providing professional technical expertise in the design of complex optic Fibre network infrastructure and associated OSP route and components in order to satisfy a specified set of requirements derived from the Branch's strategic plan and customer demands
- Using the Fibre planning tool to determine where Fibre will be laid in the ground taking into account wayleaves issues or obstructions that could prevent the smooth running of the installs
- Ensure quality of captured as-built information
- Checks the quality of the final detailed Fibre plan or design submitted

Qualifications Required
- National Diploma or relevant 3-year Industry Certification (NQF6) with 3 years’ relevant experience

Mandatory Requirements
- National Diploma or relevant 3-year Industry Certification (NQF6) with 3 years’ relevant experience
- 5 years’ relevant experience in the Fibre network industry specializing with Fibre and civils
