Occupational health management is a specialist medical discipline concerned with early identification of disease from health hazards at work, as well as fitness for work and rehabilitation in the context of general physical and mental health.

**Job Description**:
To lead the group-wide strategy for occupational health management, ensuring colleagues are physically and mentally fit for work, and that work is concurrently driving improvements in their physical and mental fitness, enabling Anglo American to become a world-class leader in occupational health practices.
- Initiate and lead the comprehensive analysis of global, regional and industry trends in occupational health management, practices and developments, engaging with industry thought leaders, to shape a strategy that drives sustainable step changes in Anglo American health management practices.
- Lead the development of the Group Occupational Health Strategy and Policy, defining critical, mandatory Occupational Health standards, aligned to International Standards, Regulations and expectations, to support the management of key risks relating to occupational health and lead the effective deployment across the Group.
- Develop and set the service strategy of occupational health at the BU and site level, ensuring they incorporate the latest best practices and innovation, are aligned to the Group Occupational Health strategy and standards.
- Work in close collaboration with the other Health sub-disciplines and broader Sustainable Development disciplines to ensure health is managed in an integrated system.

**Qualifications**:

- Expert: Deep knowledge of occupational health management in mining or heavy industrial and corporate office environments, including Executive medicine, Travel medicine and physical ergonomics.
- Expert: Medical fitness to work, rehabilitation and return to work in the multi-commodity mining and processing context.
- Expert: Deep knowledge of the anticipation, assessment and management of human disease arising from workplace exposures, for example: diagnosis and management of lung disease; noise-induced hearing loss, vibration-related and musculoskeletal; heat-related illness; and commodity specific occupational diseases (e.g. nickel-related diseases, platinum salt sensitivity).
- Advanced: In-depth knowledge of risk prevention and management techniques, including critical control.
- Proficient: Knowledge of standard development, implementation and governance, including compensation and insurance medicine in the workplace context.
- Expert: Translating strategies into practical actions to reduce occupational health impacts.
- Expert: Evaluating occupational risk research, scenarios and models, using a range of data and information sources to perform analysis and produce management reports.
- Expert: Application of occupational health management concepts to decision-making.
- Advanced: Interpretation of benchmarks, identification of performance gaps and development of targeted, effective plans to achieve measurable improvements for the discipline.
- Advanced: Understanding of compliance standards (safety, health, environment, regulatory & financial) applicable to the role, including mine safety regulation.
