Technical Buyer

Berlin East London

A vacancy exists in the purchasing department, Berlin Plant, for a Technical Buyer

**Primary purpose of the job**

Ensure that suitable suppliers are selected for products and services to the Company in terms of predetermined criteria.

Securing and analysis of RFQ’, Quotations and negotiating of prices and terms.

**Key Performance Areas**

Purchasing of commodities, services and address technical queries

Control, develop and monitor suppliers

Ensure continuity of supply for area of responsibility

Ensure commercial & legal compliance

Take into account price, quality and delivery

Address technical queries during procurement and quotation process

Ensure quality assurance of materials, parts or products are adhered to during procurement processes

Evaluation and selection of suppliers

**Knowledge required**

Sound knowledge and understanding of technical concepts and quality systems

Sound knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes

Sound knowledge and understanding of budget control

Sound knowledge and understanding of customer requirements and supplier evaluation

Sound knowledge and understanding to technical specifications

**Skills required**

Sound computer literacy

Communication and interpersonal relations

Negotiating and problem solving

Decision making

Representative and Managerial skills (interaction with supplier management)

Interviewing skills

**Minimum Qualifications/Experience required**

Grade 12 - Matric

Diploma in Purchasing or Equivalent

Navision

Minimum 5 years purchasing experience

Technical knowledge of automotive manufacturing industry (non-negotiable)

Minimum 2 year costing / estimating experience
