General Manager

Must be knowledgeable about the latest digital trends in media, have experience in implementing innovative and sustainable models to extend the companies digital footprint and increase revenue,
- Have a deep understanding of the media landscape, latest technologies and be able to manage a diverse team with varying skill sets whose goal it is to provide the customer (the brands and divisions within the company) with DevOps advice, technological implementation and general best practice using the Agile methodology.
- Must be data-centric and have knowledge in data reporting and hands-on experience of building/using tools and models that allow the optimization of digital platforms to enhance content management and increase subscriptions.
- Is also responsible for driving a data-centric approach to all aspects of the business and will play an important role to help drive a change in company culture which will elevate attitudes towards data reporting, data testing and the use of technologies to grow the business.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**:

- **Project Management**_

Manage and oversee special projects including:

- Building, maintaining and curating OTT platforms
- User journey across platforms
- Subscription journey across platforms
- Mobile app development and maintenance
- Photo archive e-commerce site
- Oversee other ad-hoc projects such as: development of jobs page or obituaries page in our publications, provision of dashboards to the internal business, integration to various systems and other general IT projects.

General
- Implement effective and efficient internal processes that enable targeted growth
- Bridge communication gap between digital and the customer (newspaper digital editors)
- Offer advice and guidance to external and internal partners on best practice for digital and news media
- Hold meetings with stakeholders to ensure measures of accountability, tasks and performance expectations are clear
- Be the face of the projects and provide information and steady flow of communication to EXCO

**DevOps management**
- Manage output_
- Oversee DevOps team scheduling and completion of most briefed-in tasks to the best of the team's capacity
- Attend sprint refinements and help the team establish a list of priorities according to business needs
- Offer guidance on best practice for the customer needs
- Be the liaison between the DevOps team and the editorial/other customer needs
- Ensure technological innovation across the business
- Flag opportunities for tech/editorial innovation based on industry news and trends
- Ensure websites are of a high quality and attractive to readers
- General_
- Manage DevOps team restructuring
- Rebuild team to replace lost staff
- Rework team procedures as needed and manage outside resources to cover gaps
- Establish new practices on the team
- Meet with stakeholders across the business to understand expectations of the team and the capacity around this

**Data Information Management**
- Manage output_
- Formulate data strategy for Arena Holdings
- Update monthly Manco reports with new and more relevant information for teams
- Reimagine the digital overview for the companies’ digital properties
- Establish new work system and procedures (Daily scrum, prioritizing workload and requests)
- Reimagine the commercial data analyst role and group expectations of this
- Provide monthly subscription data to internal customers
- Keep editorial dashboards updated
- Use data to help editorial teams grow
- Use data to help the company grow subscriptions
- Build audience segments and subscriber propensity model
- Through data, offer strategies on how to reduce churn rate of subscribers
- Offer support to audience team on how to grow audiences across platforms
- Update subscription dashboard/build new campaigns/subscription dashboards as necessary
- Establish new subscription data strategy in conjunction with audience team
- Consolidate and standardise IT systems supporting digital
- De-risking reliance on small or niche vendors

- Ensure data is at the heart of every decision made
- Help impact change within the business using data tools to inform decisions
- Establish own set of data methods to implement across the business
- Print system migrations
- Keep updated of latest data trends
- Maintain a relationship with various stakeholders including Google and social media platforms
