**Junior Bookkeeper**

Department: Finance / Accounts
Reports To: Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Manager

Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper to join the finance department. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, capturing transactions, and assisting with VAT and month-end tasks. It's a perfect fit for someone with a solid grounding in finance and a proactive attitude toward learning and development.
- Record financial transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, and payments)
- Reconcile bank accounts and internal ledgers
- Manage petty cash and staff expense claims
- Process supplier invoices and handle payments
- Assist in preparing VAT submissions
- Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records
- Support month-end and year-end reporting procedures
- Provide ad-hoc assistance to the Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Manager
- Matric with Accounting (required)
- A certificate or diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (advantageous)
- Studying towards or interested in pursuing a financial qualification (e.g., SAIPA, ICB) is a bonus
- 2 - 3 years in a bookkeeping or accounting support role (preferred)
- Familiarity with accounting platforms like Sage or Pastel
- Prior exposure to a small or medium-sized business environment is a plus
- Solid understanding of fundamental bookkeeping principles
- Strong numerical and analytical capabilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Well-organised with the ability to meet deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently and within a team
