- DIVISION: RESEACH & DEVELOPMENT, ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE & SHEQ- Key Performance Areas:
- Initiate, plan and participate actively in projects in the improvement of quality, productivity and cost reduction.- Provide technical skill in Manufacturing areas to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize and monitor manufacturing processes.- Maintain continuous process improvement with safe work practices to reduce cost, improve quality and increase throughput for new and existing methods.- Identify improved production methods throughout the company's Production and make recommendations to management for implementation.- Identify improved quality systems and make recommendations to management for implementation.- Find solutions / problem solve issues in production processes / methods.- Set-up production system methods.- Design and implement low cost automation processes / methods / systems.- Introduce new methods and machines to production.- Provide the initial training and support during the introduction phase of any new method.- Assist in other positions and departments in accordance to operational requirements.- Ensure that all tasks are executed in a safe manner with due regard for the company's policies and procedures, regulations specific to the use of equipment and products and regulations prescribed by the Occupational Health & Safety Act.- Report unsafe acts / working conditions / injury on duty to the supervisor immediately.- Maintain good housekeeping standards-
**Inherent Requirements**
- Minimum skills and knowledge required:
- Standard 10 / Grade 12 or equivalent.- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (NQF 7).- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position.- Understanding of Industrial Engineering and Production Management.- Has worked at both the micro level doing individual work place layouts as well as on the macro level doing full factory systems.- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing systems or 5S will be advantageous.- Ability to design low cost automation.- Ability to work with either pneumatics or PLCs will be advantageous.- Computer literate (MS Office, with emphasis on advanced Excel).- Fully competent to manufacture parts and equipment on CNC Router, milling machine, Lathe and welding will be advantageous.- Proficient in designing 3D CAD models and produce drawings on a CAD program. Knowledge of CAD programs of Fusion or Solidworks will be advantageous.- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.- Must be prepared to work overtime / weekends in accordance with operational requirements.- Physically / medically fit- Behavioural Dimensions:
