**Purpose of the role**
The Technical Director will support the development of the Gender Affirming Healthcare (GAHC) Strategy and the expansion of the KP program through effective relationship management and networking with collaborators, funders and other relevant stakeholders. The Director will also be required to develop proposals for new research/implementation grants in collaboration with stakeholders and collaborators.
**Work Description**
The Technical Director is responsible to ensure that all projects related to his/ her allocated specialist area are supported and executed according to designed protocols and standards. This will require the Technical Director to design SOPs, implementation plans, protocols and systems for the implementation of project components, to build capacity for projects as well as to ensure that quality control systems are in place and that projects are executed according to standards specified in the protocol.
**Technical Work Responsibilities**
- Design of research, implementation strategies, systems, methodology, tools and standards
- Design specific components with tools, policies, M&E systems and associated strategies for the expansion of the KP program under Aurum
- Project ethical approval (where relevant)
- Project governance and compliance to guidelines and policies
- Reporting
- Stakeholder relationship management
- Research papers and abstracts
**Duties**
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to develop, communicate and collaborate on specific implementation protocols/plans and implementation plan
- Design appropriate strategies, tools, methodologies and systems to support implementation of project components under the KP program
- Support and provide technical advice and guidance to the project teams to support project execution and development of methodology
- Ensure that health delivery programme monitoring system are in place and supportive of the implementation plan
- Continuously report on project outputs to relevant stakeholders
- Create appropriate systems for information dissemination
- Conduct training for specific components of the KP program
- Ensure integration into the project systems and plans
- Conduct compliance audits
- Develop non-compliance mitigating plans and actions
- Discuss audit results with project teams and train mitigation plans and actions
- Present audit results to Management
- Track impact of mitigating plans and actions and provide input into possible areas of growth
- Develop relevant strategies, policies, procedures and standards for the division aligned to the regional strategy
- Review current research resources and business capacity and identify gaps
- Initiate and develop appropriate scientific collaborations and provide input into possible areas of growth

- Effectively support the identification of stakeholders and map their required needs and expectations
- Effectively support the identification of trends that could affect research implementation of projects
- Provide input into the management of the project area by identifying improvement opportunities to the area
- Provide input of ideas for cross-project decisions
- Demonstrate visible ownership of business wide initiatives impacting on the projects
- Support the organisation in ad hoc internal projects
- Identify risks and threats to the region proactively
- Support the management team to achieve improved performance
- Ensure that performance against plans and protocols are measured to provide feedback to the management team
- Ensure the effective integration of services within the division/unit
- Provide leadership to the technical staff within the division/unit
**Education**:
- Minimum of Master’s degree in Medical/Public Health
- Qualification in health (nursing/clinical associate/medical officer) would be advantageous
**Experience**:
- At least five years’ experience in a health environment at management level
- Specialist knowledge in key populations and HIV programming
- Publications in international peer reviewed journals
- Functional and Health Industry best practices
- Stakeholder management at Senior Management Level
