Maintenance Manager

**Job Advert Summary**:
Rainbow is looking for an experienced and qualified Maintenance Manager to manage the day-to-day maintenance operation in area of responsibility in Rustenburg. To manage the repairs, modifications and maintenance of the Farms and Hatchery equipment, civil and other infrastructure and equipment to ensure efficient operations of the Chicken Farms and Hatchery. To plan and manage all building and equipment projects. The successful incumbant will be reporting to the Agricultural Executive.

**Minimum Requirements**:
A 3 or 4 year Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Qualification

Completed GCC Factories

Trade Test (preferable)

Min of 5 years management experience in a maintenance environment

Trade Experience in an FMCG advantageous

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Project planning**
Strategize capex focus to reduce farms and hatcheries downtime and improve efficiencies of machines (equipment) and lines.
Ensure that health and safety requirements as per the Rainbow standard are adhere to with regards to specifying new equipment. Process change control documentation with regards to all equipment and plant changes with proven records for audit purposes.
Manage and control the fixed asset register and ensure that it is updated as per policy and depreciation is in line with group standards.
Ensure that all project work in farms and hatcheries is carried out and completed to the highest level of trade-man ship quality and according to safe food requirements.
Manage outside contractors to ensure the integrity of the engineering team and carry out corrective action if and when required
Department Management - Loss control, asset management, spares utilization and stock holding, all administrative duties
Conduct weekly project meetings to ensure all disciplines are aligned and that capex targets dates met in view of the year planner.
Preparation of all capitalized major maintenance and capital request motivations and supporting documentation.
Creating and keeping of an archive on each project for future references.
Conduct time and motion studies on specific areas of the farms and hatcheries with a view to implement flow improvement, ergonomics’ and engineer bottle necks by use of layout changes or equipment introduction.
Handle all investigations around IOD’s to establish all the facts to ensure prevention where possible and to address unacceptable or dangerous behaviour that can lead to injuries.
Safety control of contractors.

**Maintenance**
Develop and implement an effective planned preventative maintenance system for the Inland Farms and Hatcheries facilities as well as oversee major repairs of breakdowns thus minimising R&M costs in the region.
Ensure all buildings and accessories are utilised into risk, security, safety, health, HACCP AND ISO22000, 14000, 18000.
Ensure all electrical equipment and installations are maintained or installed in accordance with statutory requirements and business needs.
Oversee repairs and maintenance on all other utilities.
Monitor and verify contractor compliance with the OSHACT, and authorize access for complying contractors to site.
Optimise efficiencies and utilisation of assets in the region with the objective of minimising the costs per unit.
Plan and implement a maintenance program for the feed mill as well as oversee major repairs of breakdowns to minimize repairs and maintenance costs in the region.
Plan and effect a maintenance schedule for all material handling equipment ensuring minimum downtime.
Oversee repairs and maintenance on all other utilities.
Optimize efficiencies and utilization of assets in the region with the - objective of minimizing the costs per unit.
Drive asset productivity through agreed KPI’s and efficiencies.
Report daily on actual KPI’s vs budget and works with the maintenance team to address areas of non-conformance or concern proactively and timeously.
Manage maintenance staff time-keeping, leave rosters and attendance.
Coordinate the planned maintenance programme with other functional areas to ensure optimal operations efficiencies.
Implement the asset productivity and care plan through: planned maintenance strategy and maintenance tactics, investigating root causes of breakdowns
Identifying and escalating high risk maintenance issues
Delegating resources to planned maintenance and breakdowns
Drive workshop appearance and image through good

**Outsourced Contractor Management**
Supervise and assign maintenance work to contractors on a daily basis, ensuring clear allocation of responsibility and accountability.

**Financial Management**
Implement and encourage cost cutting initiatives within the Maintenance Department where these do not impact on long term business sustainability.

**Team Management**
Lead the maintenance team towards meeting targets - through regular communication and utilization of full organizational talent management tool set.
