**Role Purpose**

Oversee and co-ordinate all Engineering risks within the greater Guardrisk Group.

**Requirements**:

- BCom engineering degree or equivalent tertiary qualification
- RE Exams KI representative
- More than 10 years engineering underwriting experience within the Insurance Industry, with a proven track record of building a profitable Corporate engineering portfolio
- At least 7-10 years senior management experience in the corporate engineering sector, with in depth knowledge of financial management and reinsurance
- Knowledge of the financial services, particularly insurance industry and regulatory requirements

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Oversee and co-ordinate all Engineering risks within the greater Guardrisk Group
- Develop strategies and initiatives to establish Guardrisk General Insurance (GGI) as a leading market in the Corporate Engineering Sector.
- Developing strategic plans in conjunction with GGI Senior Management and ensuring implementation of strategy in wider Guardrisk group
- Identify and convert risk share opportunities within the greater Group, in collaboration with the Group Internal Reinsurance Vehicle
- Full accountability for financial performance of Engineering business within the greater Guardrisk Group
- Setting and reviewing budgets in conjunction with GGI Senior Management and managing cost throughout the business
- Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence
- Consults extensively and involves executive and key stakeholders (internal and external) where required
- Required to head up entire Division of Product Heads, Underwriters and Claims Specialists and oversee the continued growth and profitability of the engineering insurance portfolio
- Establishing and growing a profitable portfolio of Corporate risks, through careful guidance and mentoring of staff
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify risk-sharing and Alternative Risk Transfer opportunities
- Oversee the continuous development of the Engineering products within the wider Group
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards on all technical engineering, construction, mechanical breakdown and plant risks within the Guardrisk Group
- Creating and adapting pricing and underwriting models through regular review of portfolio performance
- Responsible for creating controls to ensure Reinsurance Treaty compliance on all Engineering risks
- Strong marketing capabilities and established profile within the Insurance Industry
- Established broker relationships at Senior and Executive level within the Corporate broking environment
- Drive and oversee the improvement of operational systems, processes and policies in line with Group requirements, with particular focus on improved management reporting, statistical information, business processes and organizational planning
- Responsible for financial reporting, RI reporting and claims management of all Engineering business within the Group
- Responsible for creating risk management models and measures in the business
- Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions
- Build and maintain a cohesive relationship between all relevant stakeholders within the greater MMH Group to ensure alignment between MMH and Guardrisk
- Work closely with the greater GGI Team to find insurance solutions for clients across all product lines within the Guardrisk Group
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing Head to constantly identify and unlock new opportunities
- Execute effective workforce planning practices to ensure that staffing requirements are accurately forecasted
- Identify employee growth and development needs and schedule interventions to enable ongoing development, training and personal growth
- Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls
- Consult with GGI Senior Management on budgeting requirements and expenditure
- Drive the identification and implementation of partnerships and other avenues to achieve financial savings and improved service delivery
