**Position Summary**

To be able to draft effective designs that meet specified requirements for the organization.

To use computer-aided design (CAD) software, preferable Autodesk Inventor, to create blueprints and drawings that satisfy project needs, analyse drawings and modify existing designs.

To identify inefficiencies, suggesting changes to designs and final product dimensions.

Create supporting documents that relate to product design and maintenance.

To help build functional, secure and well-designed products and structures that meet the company’s needs.

To identify new cost saving designs which can reduce overall costs.

To create synergy between all role-player departments in order to deliver a well-designed product.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Design, draft and check drawings, maps, diagrams and documentation for projects
- Review, interpret and explain drafts and drawings
- Create 3-dimensional models and use other methods to verify fit check
- Liaising with architects and engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
- Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials
- Describing productions methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
- Create detailed designs with computer-aided design software
- Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
- Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team
- Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
- Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
- Create manuals that describe existing products’ operation, features and maintenance
- Consultation with management / customers to deliver products according to the requirements.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk
- Familiarity with 3D modelling software as: Inventor, Revit, 3DS Max, AutoCAD and Fusion
- Good math skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge and experience in sheet metal, machining, fabrication, welding, etcetera.
- Good staff management skills

**Qualification and/or special requirements**:

- BSc in Engineering, Architecture or degree from a technical college
- Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) will be an added advantage

3/5 years’ experience in the Sheetmetal industry
