- **Summary of role**:_The Mechanical Engineer/Draughtsman is responsible for conducting physical assessments and documenting the repair requirements for trailers with extensive damage. This role involves determining the nature of repairs, whether accident-related, warranty-related, service-related, or general, and creating accurate job lists. The Mechanical Engineer/Draughtsman will create engineering and manufacturing drawings for unique parts and assemblies, provide technical assistance to the workshop, and contribute to process improvement efforts.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Assess Trailer Condition: Conduct physical assessments of trailers to determine the repair needs, identifying whether the repairs are due to accidents, warranties, services, or general maintenance.

Job List Creation: Create detailed job lists outlining required repairs, materials, parts and repair methodologies for trailers needing work. These lists are used to create quotes and job cards for clients and the workshop.

Reports for Clients & Insurance: Prepare detailed reports to justify when a trailer is beyond repair and should be written off, providing clear and concise reasons for the recommendation, to be submitted to clients and insurance companies.

Manufacturing and Engineering Drawings: Create precise and high-quality engineering and manufacturing drawings for custom parts and assemblies needed in trailer repairs. This includes detailed instructional drawings for the workshop to follow for complicated repairs.

Technical Assistance to Workshop: Offer technical guidance to the workshop team, ensuring that all repair work is carried out according to design specifications and resolve any technical queries or challenges that may arise.

Technical Support for Sales Team: Provide Sales Advisors with technical expertise to enable them to provide accurate and sound advice to clients regarding repairs and maintenance.

Efficiency & Quality Improvement: Research new repair techniques, materials and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of trailer repairs, contributing to continuous improvement in repair processes.

**Desired Experience & Qualification**

Grade 12

Completed relevant qualification

±1 year experience in mechanical design

±1 year Drafting technical drawings using CAD software
