**Job description**

**In line with the requirements of the SARChi programme**:

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage staff
- Build a research agenda
- Sustain research networks
- Publish research
- Supervise Masters and Doctoral students
- Mentoring of Post-Doctoral Research Fellows

**Minimum requirements**
- PhD (in Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology or allied discipline).
- International leader in the field
- Excellent research and publishing record.
- NRF rating.
- Experience in supervising postgraduate students.

**Competencies and Behavioural Attributes**:

- Track record of successful fundraising.
- Knowledge of budgets and financial planning.
- Team-building skills.
- Strong networking skills.

**Recommendations**:

- Experience in working with university-based research entities.
- Interest in 4IR and AI debates.
