Committed to transformative change, UJ’s mission is “To transform and serve humanity through innovation and the collective and collaborative pursuit of knowledge.” The University is guided by the vision of building “An international university of choice, anchored in Africa and the global south, dynamically shaping a sustainable future". **Job description** **_ For more information, please review the following link: _**_Justice/Criminal/NRSO_** **Responsibilities**: - Provide senior leadership in the strategic development and growth of Visual Art programmes. - Provide academic leadership that fosters collaboration, innovation, and excellence in teaching, research and community engagement. - Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including lectures, seminars, workshops and research methodologies. - Undertake research and/or creative practice that advances the discipline and results in DHET accredited outputs. - Build and maintain industry and community networks that enhance student engagement, experiential learning and external partnerships. - Coordinate curriculum delivery, programme administration and departmental events, while contributing to efficient academic operations. **Minimum requirements** - A Doctorate in Visual Art or a cognate discipline is required for appointment at Professor or Associate Professor level. - Demonstrated academic leadership experience appropriate to the seniority of the role. - A strong track record in teaching in a higher education environment. - A strong record of accredited research output, whether creative or textual. **Competencies and Behavioural Attributes**: - Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. - Proven leadership and organisational ability, underpinned by emotional intelligence, integrity, and professionalism. - Critical thinking, problem-solving and the ability to work independently under pressure. - Demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students and community partners. - Proven innovation and creativity in teaching, research and professional practice. - Relevant digital literacy and curriculum development experience. **Recommendations**: - An NRF rating or ability to achieve one would be a strong recommendation. - Global South research and engagement with academics or institutions in the Global South. **Enquiries**: **Enquiries regarding job content**:Mr. Gordon Froud (Head of Department) on Tel: (011) 559 1116**Enquiries regarding remuneration and benefits**:Mrs. Nombulelo Ntsimane (HCM Business Partner) on Tel: (011) 559 3010
