**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to manage and provide specialised support to municipalities, including formal interventions and anti-corruption support.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 4-year legal qualification or LLB; A minimum of 3 years management level experience in a legal support or related environment; A valid code B (or higher) driving license. NB People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.

**Recommendation**:
Admitted as an attorney or advocate of the High Court, who has duly completed the Law Society of South Africa board examinations or national bar examinations; Experience in Local Government law and administrative law.

**Key Performance Areas**:
Manage the provision of assistance with regard to functional and operational legal support and assistance in respect of formal provincial interventions justified or required in terms of Section 139 of the Constitution and the Western Cape Monitoring and Support of Municipalities Act; Manage the provision of Specialised Support on governance issues in response to municipalities needs; Manage the advocacy and capacity building regarding anti-corruption, fraud and maladministration policies and guidelines in municipalities Performance and information management and reporting; Manage Human Resources of the component; Plan the components budget and manage income and expenditure.

**Remuneration**:
All-inclusive salary package of R 896 436 per annum (Salary level 11)

Note on remuneration: to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
