Analytics Support Specialist

The main purpose of this position is to build, support, maintain and optimise business intelligence (BI) analytics solutions and services across the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). Detailed Description - Implement data and analytics standards and frameworks across the SARB to ensure optimised analytics solutions and adherence to best practices (i.e. Data Management Body of Knowledge (DAMA), data operations, development and operations, development security and operations, and machine learning). - Ensure an understanding of the client’s strategy, data and analytics requirements in order to drive the continuous development of BI and analytics solutions (reports) and to address evolving business needs. - Take responsibility for BI analytics solutions for domain-specific implementation across the SARB. - Design, build and support data analytics solutions that are robust, modular, scalable, deployable, reproducible and versioned for analytics and reporting purposes. - Continually monitor domain-specific analytics solutions to ensure solution availability. - Enhance and optimise domain-specific analytics solutions, thereby ensuring continuous improvement and optimal long-term performance of analytics solutions (reports). - Diagnose, resolve and provide solution support to raised incidents and issues across domain-specific analytics solutions. - Implement security and compliance rules to ensure adherence to relevant policies with respect to all BI analytics solutions. - Identify and manage the mitigation of risks relating to domain-specific analytics services. - Proactively engage and problem-solve with cross-functional stakeholders, from technical data teams to managers, to resolve incidents and issues on analytics solutions. - Provide reporting and recommendations on solution utilisation, performance and improvements for domain-specific solutions to management. - Guide and train business users on how to use analytics solutions and relevant reporting technologies. Job Requirements - a Bachelor’s degree (NQF7) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Management or Technology, or an equivalent qualification; and - five to seven years’ experience in building, maintaining and optimising analytics solutions and services. Additional requirements include: - experience with BI reporting technologies such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and MicroStrategy; - proven experience in building and supporting reports and analytics solutions in production; - ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable and robust code in object-orientated language (e.g. Python, Scala, Java) in a professional setting; - experience working across structured, semi-structured and unstructured data; - experience with database technologies such Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, MySQL, PostgreSQL, IBM Db2 and NoSQL; - practical knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices, including DAMA, system development life cycle (SDLC), development and operations, development security and operations, and data operations (would be an advantage); - continuous improvement knowledge and skill; - industry, organisational and business awareness, knowledge and skill; - quality assurance knowledge and skill; - business continuity planning knowledge and skill; - information technology (IT) enablement planning knowledge and skill; - release management knowledge and skill; - technical analysis knowledge and skill; - systems integration knowledge and skill; and - continued learning and/or professional development knowledge and skill.
