Waste Control is Cape Town’s oldest waste management company, operating a large modern fleet of purpose-built vehicles and equipment designed for the efficient collection and safe disposal of industrial, municipal and domestic waste. Waste Control is a division of SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Waste Control Division currently has a vacancy for a motivated, professional and organized Transport Controller to join their team. The Transport Controller's primary purpose is to assist with organizing the logistics of the Waste Control operations to ensure smooth operation and that the requirements of the Waste Control clients are met.

He/she will also be required to:

- Manage the day to day transport service requirements
- Daily vehicle routing and scheduling
- Ensure highest possible customer service levels
- Ensure that the fleet is in a roadworthy condition and conforms to Company policy in terms of branding and cleanliness
- Effective supervision of Drivers and General Assistants
- Effective management of Drivers and General Assistants discipline, time keeping and attendance
- Liaise with Human Resources department in respect of any staff related issues that do arise
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety requirements are adhered to

**QUALIFYING CRITERIA**
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Previous Fleet controlling experience in the Waste industry will be an added advantage
- Transport Management or similar qualification will be an added advantage
- Proven Leadership ability - must be able to lead by example.
- Must have a valid, unendorsed EC (Code 14) driver’s license and (PrDP)
- Basic Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel and Microsoft Office)
- Working knowledge of vehicle tracking systems

- Able to analyse and implement verbal instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and manage demanding workload in a pressurised environment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results (time management).
- Excellent communication, telephone & organizational skills

Standard hours

05h30-19h00: Monday - Friday ( these hours are worked on a staggered basis)

Weekends: 07:00 - 14:00 ( rotational basis)

Will be required to work overtime as per operational requirements

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- Diploma (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Transport Controller in Waste industry: 5 years (required)
