**Purpose of the Job**:
To supervise all staff in the warehouse to ensure that all daily targets are met. Ensure that operations pertaining to picking, checking and packing are supervised and the relevant policies and procedures are followed. Accountable for upkeep and making sure specified service providers perform tasks as planned.

**Job Objectives**:
**Manage Staff**
- Control staff attendance every morning and conduct meetings every morning to ensure daily goals are met.
- Conduct disciplinary hearings in accordance with Shoprite policies where necessary and appropriate.
- Perform personnel administration when necessary.
- Scheduling of production staff to ensure proper staffing levels are available to respond to, and meet work demands in a productive, cost effective and timely manner.
- Responsible for planning, allocating, and supervising work; disciplining staff; responding to complaints; and solving issues.

**Ensure optimal productivity**
- Direct supervision of the day-to-day activities in the warehouse.
- Monitor and plan workload daily.
- Regularly review system reports, and respond promptly if necessary to guarantee that all orders are sent out on time.
- Receive and evaluate reports to make sure that picking and checking are done correctly.
- Create and maintain reports for submission to management.

**Walking the floor**
- Walk through the Depot and monitor all production.
- Ensure that staff comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

**Maintenance**
- Ensure all maintenance inside and outside the warehouse are done on a daily basis.
- Assist with Hardware Maintenance, incident reports and software updates.
- Ensure that services are performed on pest control, generator, HVAC (air conditioners), alarm, and camera systems.
- Ensure that all job cards and associated invoices for maintenance-related activities are filed electronically.
- Serve as the DC's primary point of contact for any problems relating to maintenance, security, and cleaning.
- Follow up and take prompt action on all outstanding maintenance-related issues.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Matric qualification

**Desirable**
- Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic qualification
- Logistics/Management qualification

**Experience**:
**Essential**
- 3 -5 years experience working in a warehouse environment
- 2-3 years of experience working as a supervisor

**Desirable**
- Previous experience working in a Maintenance department

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques.
- Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
- Develops fresh ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
- Knowledge of warehouse sytems such as Pos-i-Till and MS Office proficiency.
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations.
