Internal Compliance Officer

**Job Summary**:
The Internal Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies related to banking and cryptocurrency operations. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to staff on compliance matters.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Regulatory Compliance**:
- Monitor and interpret applicable laws and regulations in the banking and crypto sectors.
- Ensure compliance with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) regulations.
**Compliance Program Development**:
- Design, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of compliance programs to reflect changes in legislation.
**Risk Assessment**:
- Perform compliance risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
- Develop strategies to mitigate compliance risks.
**Training and Awareness**:
- Conduct training sessions for employees on compliance policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the organization.
**Monitoring and Reporting**:
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the board.
**Investigation and Resolution**:
- Investigate compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve compliance issues.
**Stakeholder Engagement**:
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors on compliance matters.
- Maintain relationships with industry groups and associations to stay informed on best practices.
**Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CAMS, CCEP, or similar) is preferred.
- RE1, RE3, RE5
- **Experience**:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance within the banking or cryptocurrency industry.
- Strong understanding of South African financial regulations and compliance frameworks.
**Skills**:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in compliance software and Microsoft Office Suite.
