- Theapplicant should demonstrate prior experience in model development orvalidations. The applicant should further demonstrate prior knowledge/experienceof auditing model implementation usage, monitoring and model risk managementand governance. He/ she should also display the ability to manage, guide and develop the auditteam according to relevant strategies and regulations and the effective andtimely execution of validation or audit assignments and to provide consultingservices to the client. It is also expected that the applicant has appropriate competencies toconduct regular performance appraisals, monitorand manage the productivity of audit team, identify and oversee the trainingand development of auditors, maintain a highly skilled staff compliment andensure continuous improvement through development. The applicant shouldalso drive the relationships with stakeholders and represent GIA at appropriateclient forums/committees.
**responsibilities**:
He/she will (inter alia) identify opportunities for model usage, modelrisk management and governance assessments and reviews as well as theindependent validation of certain models as per the requirements from riskmanagement and model governance structures. He/she will also drive an integratedaudit approach between model risk, process, credit, operational, finance and ITaudit teams. The individual should provide guidance to auditors /validatorsthroughout the reviews in respect of the strategy, risks, controls andgovernance on the process being audited or validated, and advising ontechnical, methodology and regulatory issues. To also draft reportshighlighting relevant control weaknesses, risks and recommendations, as well aseffective relationship management and communication with clients, relevant modelgovernance committees and forums and all audit staff. The individual shouldalso drive the completion of the audit and validation plan and createopportunities for innovation and creative thinking and contribute to thelearning and knowledge sharing culture of the team. Responsibilities would includeparticipation in the construction of the Annual Audit and Validation Plans,facilitate dispute resolution with clients (if required) and assist with the preparationand review of various committee reports and memorandums.
