**Job Purpose**

The Project Manager ensures the profitable execution of multiple projects by managing a designated project team. He/she is responsible for setting team objectives and goals to complete projects efficiently. The role involves project planning, setting priorities, scheduling, cost control and risk management. The constant review of project progress against goals and ensuring that work is performed in compliance with regulations is crucial to the success of the role.

The majority of time spent is out of the office (60%) managing project teams, contractors and meeting client expectations.

**Job Duties**

**PRE SALES & DESIGN**
- Conduct site visit to assess client needs together with the Engineer where applicable.
- Work with the Engineer to draft the scope of the solution and the conceptual engineering drawings.
- Perform cost estimates and prepare proposals.
- Negotiate final settlement price, and customer acceptance.
- Ensure the Engineer generates CAD drawings and designs, completes engineering calculations and generates product specifications to meet project requirements.

**PROJECT MANAGEMENT**

**Planning & Monitoring**
- Develop project schedules (GANTT Charts) and execute according to plan.
- Act as the primary on-site leader for execution team on assigned projects.
- Regularly meet with clients on site to assess client requirements, challenges and complaints.
- Lead project meetings.
- Track project progress on MS Projects.
- Track actual project costs against budgeted costs and proactively address potential problems.

**Project Team Management**
- Brief and manage the internal Admin Team on the project (Administration, Procurement and Health & Safety).
- Manage costs, cashflow, quoting, invoicing and collections.
- Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured and approve parts lists.
- Ensure Health & Safety Officer follows all health and safety as well and environmental requirements.
- Select and manage sub-contractors for the project.
- Oversee project execution for compliance with specifications and installation procedures.
- Compete risk assessments.
- Conduct inspections to confirm that technical project deliverables are being met and terms and conditions are adhered to (with Engineer).
- Ensure the project is commissioned and signed off by client.

**Experience**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing technical teams within an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3 years Project Management experience preferably working on large industrial projects
- Experience in engineering solutions design is preferred
- HVAC, heating and cooling systems design, electrical and smart control systems experience is required
- Knowledge of engineering calculations including heat load calculations, strength of materials, component selection is preferred
- Industrial site work experience
- Experience supervising a team
- Experience managing sub-contractors
- Computer skills including Word and Excel
- Experience working with clients
- Proven experience sourcing repeat business from current clients

**Qualifications**
- Matric
- Diploma (Mechanical Engineering); Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical Engineering); Bachelor of Engineering; Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) Or qualified Industrial Refrigeration Mechanic, Alternatively qualified Artisan eg Millwright
- Project Management Certificate is preferred
- Financial sort course is an advantage

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
