**POSITION STATEMENT**

The Technical Network Operations Manager will be responsible for keeping track of the day-to-day operational activities within the active networks team and will be the first technical point of contact for operational issues; incidents and ISP or end user escalations raised to the active networks team to ensure efficiency and extended uptime and quality of service for customers. The position will further cover daily health checks and actions required to ensure maximum performance, availability and capacity for all network components. The custodian of the role will contribute to problem identification and resolution and the operationalization of new or updated technologies and active networks.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Record; prioritise; track and coordinate operational activities within the active networks team
- until resolution.
- Ensure SLA compliance from the active network team to internal and external customers.
- Provide 2nd level technical support for network related issues that are directed at the Active
- Networks team and allocate the appropriate resources from the team if 3rd level technical
- support is required.
- Perform daily health checks across the active network in relation to performance, availability
- and capacity and reporting thereof.
- Record and manage any actions required to improve performance, availability and capacity.
- Ensure delivery of actions related to problems and risks for which the active networks team is
- responsible for resolving.
- Daily check-ins with the network operations team regarding incident and change management
- activities to ensure prompt resolution; identify post change issues and ensure system updates
- in-line with changes made.
- Proactively identify potential incidents that the NOC may not have visibility to and coordinate
- resolution of them with the NOC and active networks team.
- Quality assurance and operational handover for all projects.
- Manage vendor performance and escalations based on contractual obligations in conjunction
- with the NOC manager.
- Ensure compliance with network policies and standards.
- Upskill the network operations team to reduce the number of operational activities required by
- the active networks team.
- Define the operational handover from active networks to network operations and ensure
- compliance.
- Identify opportunities for automation to streamline operational functions.
- Identify and resolve data quality challenges for which the active networks team is responsible.
- Maintain compliance with standard operating processes for all interactions with the active
- networks team.
- Create and maintain a knowledge base to empower business and customers.

**KEY COMETENCIES & SKILLS**

Networking Fundamentals:

- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, Subnettingo Routing & Switching (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP) WAN/LAN/WLAN technologies

Network Security:

- Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) IDS/IPS, NAC, Zero Trusto Encryption & Authentication (PKI, RADIUS, TACACS+)

Hardware & Software:

- Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Juniper JunOSo SD-WAN, SDN (Software-Defined Networking) Load balancers (F5, Citrix ADC)

Cloud & Virtualization:

- AWS, Azure, Google Cloud networking VMware NSX, Hyper-V

Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

- Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, NetFlow, SNMP

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXERPIENCE**

**Bachelor's Degree or equivalent certifications in 1 or more of the following**:

- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Network Engineering
- Telecommunications
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Minimum CCNP or HCNP
- Scripting/Automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
- Knowledge of VoIP (SIP, QoS)
- Experience with DevOps/SRE practices
- 4 5 years of experience in a network operations environment.
- 4 5 years hands on experience in a network engineering role.
- Advanced experience with people management.
