**Job Purpose**:
Bidvest International Logistics is looking to appoint an Import Client Controller to understand clients requirements and facilitate their requirements in ensuring OTIFNE for each of their Import shipments. Building a trusting relationship and adding value to our clients consistently.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant tertiary qualification essential.
- Previous experience as a Seafreight Import Client Controller beneficial, with a good working knowledge of all aspects of Seafreight Imports, including the Customs and related EDI processes.
- 3-5 years experience within Imports Oceanfreight department, with a proven track record of effective communication skills
- Valid Code 8 drivers license would be advantageous.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure close liaison with clients in that they are continually updated via telephonic or electronic feedback on the status of their clearances and delivery of their cargo. All pertinent instructions and key issues to be noted on the file in our operating system.

Responsible for regular client visits thereby soliciting information on clients business requirements, understanding client's potential problem areas, investigating competitor activities and networking

Ensure close liaison and correspondence with Vessel Agents, groupage agents, TNPA, TPT, TFR, unpack depots, container parks and other third parties as and when necessary.

Regular monitoring of the status of import shipments to ensure that there are no delays in the clearance process - from time of receipt of documents to time of invoicing and delivery. Where delays occur, ensure the necessary action is undertaken to resolve with applicable department or staff concerned and the reasons for the delays are noted on the file in our operating system.

To back up the Senior and/or Client Controllers as required.

Ensure all reconciliation, debtors and other Seafreight import related queries are actioned as per department standard.

Being pro-active in looking after clients’ interests by ensuring we limit extraneous costs to our clients as well as limiting our liability by taking an interest in all matters pertaining to the clients’ dealings with BPL.

Attending client functions and luncheons together with regular client visits to ensure we have a full understanding of their special requirements as well as continuously building long-term relationships.

Upon receipt of documents, check to ensure all necessary documentation received to effect Customs Clearance

Ensure strict adherence to BCS (Business Compliance System).

Ensure adequate feedback in respect of any operational or service related issues at departmental meetings.

Support the Import Clerks and Import Controllers with advise and actions (as a team leader)
