**Objectives**:

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- As a Senior Environmental Manager (M/F/d) within JUWI, you will help ensure that all projects deliver on their commitments and obligations in relation to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects. You would have line reporting into the PD Team but functional reporting into the various other units requiring ESG services.
Primary Responsibilities
- The identification, implementation and coordination of the various ESG related tasks necessary to ensure compliance with both our clients and regulatory authorities’ requirements, and including:

- Leading the environmental and social due diligence tasks, primarily for the Project and Business Development Teams, but also for the Hybrid Sales, EPC and O&M Teams and whenever possible.
- Project development support, primarily for the Project and Business Development Teams, but also for the Hybrid Sales, EPC and O&M Teams and whenever possible.
- Developing an understanding of the relationship between site selection, technical design, permitting requirements and project economics in order to be able to develop the best possible projects (optimised at capex or tariff level).
- Liaising with the respective statutory organisations.
- Ensuring the respective project permits, licenses, and approvals are obtained and validities maintained.
- Drafting of ESG related policies and assisting with their implementation when required, including the Environmental Social Management Systems for EPC, and O&M.
- Assisting with Client and subcontractor Environmental, Social and Governance review.
- Establishment and management of the relevant task budget.
- Managing project compliance with Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
- Participation in project and programme reviews when required.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- A degree in Natural Science.
- Proven ability to speak and write fluently in English.
- High degree of project development and environmental experience within the renewable energy sector (ideally within REIPPPP) or in other industries facing similar challenges, such as infrastructure and construction.
- Possession of a valid, South Africa Code 08 driver’s license.
- Motivated, driven and ability to self-manage.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Proven ability to work within a small project development team and across business units.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
- Proven experience of successfully managing multiple projects within budget and on schedule.

**Desirable Attributes**
- A degree in Environmental Science, Law or similar.
- Thorough understanding of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) Environmental Authorisation assessment process; ideally with respect to renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of the International Environmental and Social standards, including Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards.
- Able to perform research, write articles and present to an audience.
