**Job Summary**:
Aon South Africa has an exciting opportunity for a Technical, Risk and Control Manager - Business Operations.

The Technical, Risk and Control Specialist is responsible for providing operations support to business teams (Commercial, Specialty and Personal Lines) on technical insurance, business compliance and quality standards. Delivering guidance and support on business operational compliance including insurance and other regulatory requirements such as, FAIS, TCF, PPR and POPIA as well as responding on Insurer compliance audit checks and binder due diligence. Providing technical insight on the business solutions’ product policy wordings, supporting documentation and communications to clients. Supporting business with the design and implementation of minimum operating standards. Managing approval processes for sign off and acceptance. Obtaining and maintenance of market security approvals.

This position complies with the Company Employment Equity policies.

**Key Responsibilities**:**
Operational Risk Requirements**

Governance & Control, Operational risk requirements (1st line of defense) - coordinated by Compliance who guide, check and challenge (2nd Line of Defense). Internal Audit - 3rd line of defense.

Technical & Operational Compliance

Lead the incorporation of legislative requirements into MOS

Agree compliance monitoring plan with Compliance and facilitate implementation

Lead implementation of agreed compliance improvement actions

Facilitates and assists in intermediary agreements; outsourced and Binder agreements with insurers as well a binder due diligence.

Liaison with Insurers on ensuring all collaborators implement insurer change requests and communication thereof.

Technical review - Approve and sign off on changes to product and policy documentation including schedule of insurance ensuring compliance, FAIS, TCF and PPR.

Works with Product and Underwriting business support teams to ensure accurate implementation of products in policy management systems.

Review and sign off, marketing collateral and client communication for technical correctness and regulatory compliance including FAIS, TCF and PPR.

Preparation and review of Disclosure Notices.

Provide review and response to impact of regulatory changes from a business perspective.

**Quality and Risk (Best practice and minimum operating standards)**

Design & Maintain documents relating to MOS

Build an awareness and provide training of MOS to all staff

Monitor adherence to MOS and technical standards and report breakdowns

Liaise with Internal audit re an internal audit plan to monitor to adherence to MOS

Implement and lead agreed quality improvement actions

**Market Security**

Liaise with International Market Security Committee to agree local SA approved and unapproved markets and manages the processes and communications surrounding these approvals.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Qualifications**

A matric qualification.

A relevant bachelor’s degree from a reputable tertiary educational institution.

Insurance related tertiary qualification preferable

Registration as a representative and Key Individual with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS act.

**Knowledge**

A good understanding of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to the industry.

A broad and good understanding of insurance wordings

A good understanding of risk analysis methodologies pertaining to the industry.

A well-developed understanding of and ability to deliver risk management and insurance solutions to business enterprises in South Africa.

**Skills and Attributes**

Well-developed technical and analytical skills, i.e. problem-solving, potential problem analysis, decision analysis.

Well-developed leadership and team management skills.

Well-developed spoken and written communication skills.

Well-developed negotiating skills.

Well-developed interpersonal skills.

Ability to deal with pressure and high stress environment.

**Experience**

10 years of relevant experience within the insurance industry.

At least 4 to 6 years of technical and quality management experience.

A record of accomplishment in terms of providing risk management and insurance solutions to commerce and industry.

**FAIS Compliance**:
Comply with the applicable Fit and Proper provisions as set out in the Board Notice 106 of 2008 issued by the Financial Services Conduct Authority governing Financial Advisory and Intermediary services Act, 2002 - Determination of Fit and Proper requirements for Financial Service Providers, 2008.

Have knowledge and understanding of the applicable provisions set out in the General Code of Conduct for Authorized Financial Services Providers and Representatives (as governed by the Financial Services Board, Board Notice 80 of 2003).

Have knowledge and understanding of the applicable provisions set out in the Short Term Insurance Act No 53 of 1998 and supporting regulations.
