Requirements
- An LLB degree and admission as an Attorney or Bar Advocate

(Passed Bar Examination)
- Minimum of three years’ post-admission experience in the relevant

legal environment
- Computer literacy in MS Office Suite and SAP
- Legal research, advisory and contract drafting skills
- Sound knowledge of local Government legislation, policies and

procedures
- Proven civil litigation experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines will be an

**added advantage**: conveyancing, environmental law, contract

drafting and procurement law.

Key Performance Areas
- Provide legal advice on legal issues to line departments and

Council structures by drafting and furnishing opinions or legal

assistance
- Manage the resolution of legal disputes at court and other forums

and ensure adequate representation of the City’s interests
- Consult, research, draft, scrutinise and amend agreements

according to client’s specification, legalisation, policy and

delegated authority utilising approved precedents
- Provide guidance and advise at council meetings and to line

departments
- Attend to correspondence and enquiries regarding services and

ongoing legal projects.
