Television Reporter

Propose and produce content for RT International;
Focus mainly on editorial stories and content requirements;
Work with and commission stringers and freelancers from other African countries.
Produce content for the weekly feature programme “Africa Now” which contains content from all over Africa and is packaged in South Africa;
Work fast and accurately to requests from RT International and RT Africa editorial content management for the production of stories in the Johannesburg bureau;
Contribute to content brainstorms, news diary meetings and content planning for the weekly show with suggestions for editorial content and stories for production;
Work with senior producers and other editorial staff to ensure timely, accurate and high quality programming for RT International/RT Africa - by ensuring content is produced, delivered and edited on time;
Work with and co-operate with other correspondents in major centres in other parts of Africa;
Assist with the building of the company’s database of field experts, analysts, commentators and journalists by adding contacts to the company editorial and experts database;
Constantly source more experts on areas of expertise as required by RT International and RT Africa operations;
Conduct yourself in a professional manner as a representative of RT International at all times;
Assist in editorial, logistics or other management functions from time to time;
Report to the Bureau Chief or any other designated senior editorial manager at RT Africa in Johannesburg
**Requirements**:
A mid-level to senior person with on-camera presenting and reporting skills;
An experienced journalist with minimum 8-10 years track record as a news reporter/presenter or content manager;
Fluency and 100% competence in English;
Experience and understanding of TV news and current affairs production principles - from filming to editing;
In-depth understanding of political, economic and social issues affecting people and countries in the region;
A tactical instinct to position local and regional news for relevance for global audiences;
Understanding and acceptance of the news channel’s editorial positioning;Excellent contacts across all sectors of the news landscape;
A person with a fast turn-around ethic and respectful of deadlines;
