MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent

Trade Certificate / Engineering or other relevant qualification

Work well on computer packages

10 years planning, scheduling & execution of mining projects / tenders

5 years’ experience in engineering field, more specifically in trackless mining and shaft sinking projects

Worked in a production environment

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Compilation of general contractor’s schedules that feeds in the BOQ (Bill of Quantities)

Estimating of Engineering Tenders

Utilising of mining programmes
- Deswik, Mine24D, Bentley or AutoCAD Packages

Compilation of information for tender submission documents

Knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act and Regulations

Industry knowledge on Mining and Construction Equipment

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare analysis of projects to include: preliminary methodology, equipment selection calculations, life cycle cost and labour efficiencies

Visit site and record information about the overall Mine, the conditions, management, availability of services such as water and electricity,

Review labour and Engineering requirements, to decide the most cost-effective solution.

Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates

Enter production rates

Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors

Prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling work

Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops

Analyse blueprints and other documentation to prepare the tender build up estimates

Prepare and maintain a directory of Engineering suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors

Conduct post tender analysis on lost bids to ascertain whether our bid was competitive, met the Clients requirements, an alternative approach that could be used

Assist sites by answering queries relating to Engineering
