Planning Manager Mr Price

**purpose**

Mr Price Apparel, the largest trading division of the Mr Price Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager to join our dynamic business.
Your key objectives are to lead a planning team to drive a brand/ portfolio in achieving the four Right’s (Product, Place, Time, Price).

**key responsibilities**
- **Team Leadership**:

- Set goals & direction for the team in line with key imperatives as defined in the company strategy.
- Ensure a sustained focus on departmental goals and strategy.
- Provide guidance & performance feedback at both an individual & team level in order to optimizing learning & development.
- Create a team culture that is disciplined in its thinking; responsive to trade; collaborative across all areas of the business & passionate about fashion retail.
- Ensure accountability through effective delegation with appropriate support & oversight dependent on levels of competence & experience in the team.
- Review & streamline processes to ensure effective time management, proactive planning & team member utilization.
- **Current Trade**:

- Compile & communicate a current trade report for the senior business leaders, as well as strategic overviews of the previous months trade required for board reports.
- Analyse available market information on a monthly basis in order to monitor & optimize growth targets against key KPI's.
- Ensure store plans & replenishment forecasts are sound & if not ensure they are corrected via effective team action plans.
- Conduct & facilitate competitive shops & store visits ensuring that recommended actions plans are executed.
- Collaborate with the Merchandise Operations Manager (MOM) & Merchandise Operations Planner (MOP) in order to optimize store opportunities.
- Ensure key timelines are being met with regards to merchandise & operations deadlines.
- Monitor & analyse store cover ratios.
- Liaise & oversee distribution centre ensuring timeous deliveries to stores and monitor stock clearance from the distribution centre.
- Oversee re-balancing of stock in stores
- **Post Mortem & Strategy**:

- Compile a summarized post mortem outlining key learnings & present to senior business leaders, covering key financial measures, product performance, & strategic insight into shifts in the competitor landscape.
- Compile key strategic objectives & in line with lessons learnt.
- Create a top line financial plan reflecting growth in line with missed opportunities, company strategy & space growth in order to balance investment per sub department.
- Ensure that the seasonal strategy takes cognizance of the correct width & depth, profile & regional plans, marketing research & other key ratios.
- Manage & report on comp & non-comp growth to ensure that comp store growth is not impacted by new stores.
- In collaboration with Brand merchants, agree appropriate assortment width for stores.
- **Building an Assortment**:

- Ensure that the assortments will enable stores to achieve planned growth.
- Ensure that any shifts in product, key measures such as shape of assortment, attribute management are carefully considered & clearly communicated in the review presentation.
- Check the changes from strategy & ensure store targets will be met.

**requirements**
- **Education**:

- Degree or Diploma Qualification that is commerce-related.
- **Experience**:

- Minimum 4 - 6 years’ experience.
- 24 months as a Senior planner
- Proven performance
- Successfully mentored and coached across both merch and location planning
- Strong leadership competencies

- Professional Skills include: Current Trade knowledge, Post Mortem, Build a Seasonal Strategy & Assortment.
- Technical Skills include: Computer Literacy, Mathematical Competency, Negotiation Skills & Planning System.
- Business Understanding include: retail knowledge, brand and product understanding, customer & retail market.
