Employment Relations is the management of individual and collective relationships in Omnia through the implementation of good practices that enable the achievement of organisational objectives compliant with the legislative framework and appropriate to socio-economic conditions.

The main function of this position is to formulate employment relations strategies, structures policies, practices and procedures covering all types of employees including those sourced through temporary employment services. To enhance relationships between management, organised labour and employees by providing special employment relationship services to achieve harmonious working environment in the organisation.

**Qualifications**:
LLB specialising in Labour Law or relevant qualification

**Experience**:
Job Knowledge:

- Principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labour relations and negotiation, and HR information systems (E)
- Human behaviour and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation and psychological research methods (E)
- Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources (E)
- Knowledge of other countries Labour Legislation (E)
- Investigative and analytical techniques, procedures and requirements (E)
- Understanding of the Secondments Contracting and Expats Contracting process (E)
- Good understanding of HR and ER best practice (E)
- Project Management and Change Management Skills (D)
- ER budget and planning / Commercial Acumen (E)
- Experience of leading organisational change projects including restructures and redundancy programmes

Job Related Skills:

- Skill in identifying and resolving managerial problems in relation to employee relation issues (E)
- Ability to represent the agency before a third party, i.e. MSBP (E)
- Ability to do research and analysis of precedent and/or case law in relation to conduct in preparation of and presentation of cases before a third party (E)
- Project Management and Change Management Skills (D)

Job Experience:

- 5 years’ IR / ER Manager experience (E)
- Plus 5 years’ CCMA or Bargaining Council experience (E)
- Proven track record in successfully dealing with complex organisational ER relations issues (E)
- Leading on and undertaking consultation with employees and trade unions (e.g. wage negotiations, industrial actions, lock outs etc.)
- Effectively managing disciplinary and grievances (E )
- ER budget and planning (D)
- Track record of contributing to the successful management of change and experience of leading on restructuring programmes (E)

**Duties**:

- To develop and align operational employment relationship policies and procedures to maintain efficient employee/management teams thus maximising profits and ensuring long-term success.
- To develop and ensure implementation of ER strategy aligned to HR strategy,
- To establish and maintain participative management frameworks to ensure harmonious working relationships.
- To establish and maintain dispute resolution mechanisms in order minimise organisational conflict.
- Lead Omnia ER at Bargaining Council, Union engagements and any other relevant ER fora.
- To partner with business leaders and HR practitioners to train various internal stakeholders on HR/ER policies and procedures to enhance employment relationships. Furthermore ensure the interpretation and provide training on new or updated legislation for the business,
- To create and manage an new transformation awareness within the organisation regarding the leadership choices, thinking and decisions thus altering the culture to sustain the kinds of approaches which are demanded today - and which could change tomorrow.
- To equip key clients with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people in line with their people plans thus ensuring the management and development program meets the organisation’s goals.
- To work in partnership with managers, manage employee relations issues including the on-going relations with the trade unions at a macro level in order to build management responsibility and capability for managing ER/IR (where appropriate) issues and improves the effectiveness of consultation.
