Purpose of the role

A digital print operator is responsible for managing the transition of digital designs and content into high-quality printed materials. This role involves operating digital printing equipment, ensuring print quality, and collaborating with design and production teams to produce visually appealing and accurate printed materials. This role also involves operating 3D filament and resin printers, ensuring print quality, accurate size, and finish of 3D models.
Key role outputs

**Digital printing**:
Operate and maintain digital printing equipment, such as high-speed printers and large-format printers.
Ensure the proper setup and calibration of printing machines for optimal print quality.

**File preparation**:
Receive and review digital files for print jobs, ensuring they meet printing specifications.
Convert digital files into formats compatible with printing equipment.

**Print production**:
Monitor and adjust print settings to achieve the desired color, quality, and consistency.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to print quality, paper jams, and other operational challenges.
Coordinate with production staff to prioritise and schedule print jobs.

**Quality control**:
Conduct regular quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet established standards.
Adjust print settings as needed to address issues and maintain consistency.

**Collaboration**:
Work closely with graphic designers, industrial designers, and other team members to understand project requirements.
Communicate effectively to address any concerns or modifications required for successful print production.

**Maintenance and repairs**:
Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Coordinate with maintenance technicians for repairs and upgrades as needed.

**Inventory management**:
Monitor and manage inventory levels of printing supplies, such as inks and paper.
Place orders for consumables in a timely manner to avoid disruptions in print production.
Experience and qualifications
A diploma or degree in a related field is an advantage.
At least 3-5 years digital printing experience
Computer literacy essential
Experience working with 3d printing, vinyl printers and plotters.
Experience in DTP and layout design.
