**Payroll Specialist**

Payroll Specialist Job Description

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Process payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reported data
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues in a professional and courteous manner
- Update and maintain employee payroll records
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports
- Generate ad hoc reports as requested
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Keep abreast of latest changes in payroll processing and compliance
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Train new staff on payroll procedures

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems
- Solid understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws and regulations
- Excellent math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and confidentiality

**Preferred Skills and Qualifications**
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll software
- Multi-state payroll experience
