Product Owner: Development

**Work location**:

**Job purpose**:
This role is responsible for leading the multi-disciplinary development and BI development teams. This role will keep a handle on product and project aspects including strategy, team prioritization and capacity, specifications, progress tracking, cross functional leadership alignment, management of resources and team capacity.
Essentially, this role will be responsible to increase profitability by driving product and resource success by designing efficient and scalable systems and products and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery thereof.
This role will also be responsible for motivating employees and bringing about win-win agreements within the team by efficiently structuring sprints and teams to partner together, allowing for tasks to be completed faster; ultimately speeding up time to market and increasing accuracy (decreasing bugs and issues post-launch) and increasing product profitability.
**Minimum education (essential)**:
BEng (Computer) Degree or BSC Information Technology Degree or similar
**Minimum education (desirable)**:
Relevant Information Technology degree or diploma Certified Scrum Master
**Minimum applicable experience (years)**:
10+ years with 5+ in a Team Management Role
**Required nature of experience**:

- Proven experience in full BI stack framework.

**Skills and Knowledge **(essential)**:
- Practising knowledge of SDLC.
- Knowledge of consumer-facing web development, deployment and maintenance.
- An in-depth understanding of User Experience design and Consumer products.
- Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Non-relational database design and management.
- SQL Database management, BQuery and SQL Server skills including SQL objects development. performance tuning, analysis and integration.
- Working knowledge on translating business needs into technical specifications.
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting skills and root-cause analysis ability.
- Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI).

- BPMN 2.0.
- UML Knowledge.
- Back end, Front end, and Mobile development.
- CX and UX Knowledge.
- JIRA or similar.

- Provide leadership to the development team through coaching and mentorship, conducting regular check-ins with members of the department to ensure employees are supported and coached.
**Team alignment**:
- Ensure alignment with Engineering Tech Lead’s strategy and vision.
- Ensure alignment between developers, engineers, business analysts and other business units such as operations and marketing.
**Team efficiency management**:
- Manage team productivity and metrics, ensuring quarter on quarter improvements.
- Efficiently and effectively deploy resources where and when needed.
- Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
- Maintain job descriptions of team members and write new job descriptions for available positions within the department.
- Identify the need for team capacity increases effectively and proactively, and drive recruitment process
