**Role Name**: Payments Clerk
**Location**: Somerset Road, Green Point, Cape Town
**Hours of work**: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 17:00pm
**Role summary**:
The Payments Clerk responsibility is to accurately load and pay all customer payments in a timeous manner.
**Daily Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and manage all customer payments processes ensuring accurate capturing and payments.
- Oversee the reconciliation of bank transactions to the system on a daily basis.
- Assist Customer Service and Compliance departments and other relevant internal stakeholders with payments adhoc queries.
- Assist with all adhoc queries as required by the Senior Accountant or Head of Finance.
- Assist with any general financial admin within the business when required.
- Continuously, update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Payments Clerk or relevant profession
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of accounting and payments software is an advantage
- Knowledge of online banking sites is essential
- Great attention to detail
- Proficiency in English
- Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (specifically Excel) and familiarity with relevant computer software
- BSc/Ba in accounting, finance or relevant field is advantageous
- Attention to detail
