F&G is currently assisting a reputable IT company that is seeking a **Junior Database Administrator** to join their Data Solutions team in Cape Town.

**Responsibilities**:

- Install and setup databases
- Configure databases
- Monitor databases
- Backup and restore databases
- Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery
- Point Objectives (RPO)
- Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
- Assist developers with performance tuning
- Setup and deploy database object change scripts as requested from developers and
- third party vendors
- Document the company’s database environment

**Requirements**:

- Diploma in IT
- Good knowledge of database technologies
- **MySQL on Linux is the main requirement for this position**
- Basic knowledge of relational databases
- **1-3 years DBA experience**, previous development experience will be beneficial
- Competencies required: good time management skills, detail orientation, good
- administrative skills, stress tolerance, analytical abilities

**Salary**: R300 000 - R350 000 p/a

**Experience**:

- MySQL on Linux: 1 year (required)
- DBA: 1 year (required)
