PBT Group has an opportunity for a Database Administrator. The DBA will be required to work with IT Teams: Developers and Architects to develop an understanding of data and information needs. Identify solutions and improve the quality of Database Administration services while providing support through the physical design of databases.

The DBA will be responsible for supporting multiple production databases for both OLTP and OLAP systems. The role requires taking responsibility for maintaining the integrity and performance of the supported databases and guarantee the data is stored securely and efficiently. The DBA will also provide strategic guidance and participate in the design of operational processes. In addition, the role provides the opportunity to participate in the re-deployment and support of databases hosted in AWS.

**Duties**:
**Database Management**
- Participate in the development and maintenance of strategic and tactical plans for the database environment
- Provide technical leadership around the DBA function.
- Participates in the configuration, tuning and troubleshooting of the databases in use in Development, QA and Production.
- Ensures storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures function correctly.
- Assist in recovery and maintenance of databases.
- Ensure the necessary security protocols are in place to protect data from unauthorised usage - identify potential flaws and put appropriate steps in place to mitigate risks.
- Control user access by ensuring efficient access policies are in place.
- Manage efficient job scheduling.
- Implement and schedule required maintenance tasks.
- Coordinates disaster recovery tests and database engine version upgrades.
- Implement efficient monitoring and alerting on a database and instance level.
- Assist with troubleshooting in the event of a problem.

**Experience**:

- Advanced administration and supporting experience with the Microsoft SQL Database engine for performance critical and highly available systems.
- Knowledge of AWS Database services including Amazon RDS, MS SQL, Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Postgress and Athena.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Engineering or a related field OR equivalent experience in a technical position
- Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience
- Database troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Experienced setting up monitoring / alarming for production DB environments
- Database migration and ETL experience
- Experience with slow query optimization
- Knowledge of AWS services
- Firm understanding of security concepts / best practices
- Knowledge of Test Data Management advantageous

Qualifications/ Certification:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Engineering or a related field OR equivalent experience in a technical position
