As a Travel Account Manager within our South African Accident & Health team - you will be delivering a high-quality service to existing SA Travel clients and developing and onboarding new clients.

You will work closely with current partners - servicing, retaining and growing relationships. You will also develop and implement a new business strategy - including pipelining/prospecting, developing written proposals, addressing key partners and post-bind program implementation.

The Travel Account Manager is responsible for the execution of financial growth plans at acceptable underwriting margins as well as financial planning, forecasting and regular performance reporting. You will ensure that the continuous operational aspects such as bookings and data quality are performed in-line standard methodologies.

The role is based in Johannesburg and reports into the Country President, South Africa. You will be working in a team environment with the EMEA Travel team as well as various internal functional teams. The role will require you to travel domestically and internationally from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and complete key travel insurance strategies that are in line with Chubb capabilities and standard methodologies - tailored to local market opportunities in order to meet agreed financial metrics.

Day-to-day management of existing clients - supporting their needs and delivering high-quality service. Identifying and implementing revenue maximisation opportunities with partners. Building strong partner relationships.

Bridge between client queries and delivery of actions through internal Chubb teams and departments (IT, underwriting, legal/compliance, local and regional management, operations, etc.) - ensuring delivery within agreed service levels.

Develop and implement a clear new business strategy, aligning Chubb’s capabilities, technology, appetite and strategies to the local market opportunity. This includes pipelining, prospecting, developing written proposals, presenting to key stake-holders and delivering flawless post-bind implementation.

Innovation and product development and - including conceptualising ideas for new product/program delivery and customer acquisition mechanisms and agreeing these with regional underwriting and management.

Ensure that ongoing operational aspects such as booking of premiums and data quality are performed in-line with best practices.

Support underwriting team and underwriting standard methodologies with preparation of program level P&L’s for investment and new opportunities. Support with account performance analysis for existing annual program reviews. The above includes understanding of performance, price adequacy, trends, growth opportunities and pinpointing underperforming areas for remediation.

Contribute to the Chubb values and in particular be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, working in a cross-functional team environment
Ensure compliance with all Chubb and legal/regulatory requirements at every step of the process from programme design, implementation and ongoing servicing.

Minimum Grade 12 (matric).
Tertiary qualification is an advantage (business degree/diploma and/or insurance degree/diploma).
FAIS compliant representative including completion of the RE exam

Languages

Strong command of the English language (written and spoken)

Experience

Consistent track record, experience & knowledge of the travel insurance market and digital distribution
Experience with key senior level client servicing/relationships, business development
New business track-record including sales planning, research & market knowledge, prospecting & pipelining, identification of customer needs, persuasion, negotiation, presentation and closing
Financial competence with a general understanding of insurance P&L’s as well as the ability to supervise and lead production performance to targets
Microsoft Office knowledge (particularly proficient in excel and power-point)
Experience and knowledge of revenue maximisation initiatives is an advantage
Experience in a multi-national / matrix organisational structure is an advantage
