Associate Environmental Consultant

The Associate Environmental Consultant will be responsible for the management and implementation of large environmental projects within Africa for the Mining sector. In fulfilling this responsibility the Associate Environmental Consultant will be responsible for managing a Project Team to successfully deliver projects including; environmental impact assessment processes and reporting, public and stakeholder participation, authority consultation and project administration. The Associate Environmental Consultant should also have a sound understanding of South African Legislation as well as auditing experience. In addition to this, they will have the experience to mentor the Project Team ensuring technical delivery and client satisfaction.
The Associate Environmental Consultant should demonstrate knowledge of project management (methodology, proposal/ report compilation, budget control, timely completing of project, write-offs presentation skills etc.), have the ability to network with clients, problem solve, work as part of a team and independently, develop a sales pipeline from clients.
Key Responsibilities
**Minimum requirements**:
- 10-15 years’ experience in mining environmental consultancy.
- B.Sc. (Hons) or Masters in Environmental or Natural sciences or similar qualification
- Must be able to proactively manage large EIA projects, take responsibility of resource allocation, liaise with clients, specialists and authorities, manage quality assurance/client feedback and ensure he/she meets budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets, while exceeding client expectations
- Must have a sound knowledge of environmental legislation and the EIA process, IWULA process, WML process and AEL process
- Must have experience in undertaking compliance audits
- Must be able to develop and sustain client relationships leading to repeat business.
- Developing proposal submissions
- Must be able to manage large complex EIA projects for the mining sector.
- Must be able to travel within Africa.
- Understands multi-disciplinary issues of large complex projects
- Must be able to complete and review reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Should have a valid driver’s license

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

- Should be able to work well in a team and communicate confidently with others
- The ability to work to deadlines and within set budgets is essential
